by her mother's artwork and brilliant storytelling, Monteque Pope Le Beau
became an abstract expressionists and storyteller. In 1974, born in Texas,
raised in Santa Barbara and later Southern California introduced her to
one of her first loves, the beauty of the natural world. As she studied
history, art and architecture; she soon realized her first love of art and
writing. Later she became the creative partner to her mother until her
passing.Monteque Le Beau joins Le Rad on showbiz-view as they pay a tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman who just passed away and had a well performed film 'A MOST WANTED MAN' premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. talks to LeRad on showbiz-view about the movie 'Alekesam' he made about
his Father who worked with diverse artists such as Harry Belafonte, Dizzy
Gillespie, The Byrds, Fela Kuti, Marvin Gaye, Herb Alpert, Paul Simon,
Stevie Wonder and the late Miriam Makeba. In 1990 Hugh Masakela returned
home, following the unbanning of the ANC and the release of Nelson Mandela
– an event anticipated in Hugh’s anti-apartheid anthem ‘Bring Home Nelson
Mandela’ (1986) which had been a rallying cry around the world. Sal
Masakela has continued to grow as sports & entertainment's most sought
after and engaging talent. Sal continues to raise his profile in the film
and television world with projects such as lending his voice in Sony
Pictures Feature Animation’s Oscar nominated 'Surf’s Up' - (Shia La Beouf,
Jeff Bridges) in 2007, a role in the upcoming comedy "The Misadventures of
Ben Banks", and recently producing two documentary short films through his
UX Entertainment production group. The documentary short “Alekesam”
premiered at the acclaimed 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, went on to screen
at the 2012 HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles and will next be
screened at the 2013 Newport Beach Film Festival this April. “Alekesam”
chronicles the highs and lows in the life of Sal’s father, Hugh Masekela,
an Apartheid activist and renowned musician who was exiled from his
homeland in South Africa for 30 years. It also highlights Sal’s own
journey in embracing his roots through music and reconnecting with his

Walters is an award-winning director and producer with three documentary
films and over 50 educational docudrama productions on health and
humanities to his credit. His films Therapeutic Community and Evolution
of a Group have been widely distributed in both the United States and
abroad. In 2013, Walters completed the feature length documentary, BOTSO,
The Teacher from Tbilisi, which won the Audience Choice Award at the
Maine International Film Festival Previously, a short cut of the movie,
simply titled BOTSO. It also won the Audience Choice Award at the
Fallbrook Film Festival in California. The Film is about Young Botso who
is affectionately held in Stalin’s arms in the Republic of Georgia, not

DGA assistant director for many years, Jono Oliver has had a career in
film and television production that has included more than 40 projects,
including the films The Great Debaters, Notorious, Guess Who, Barbershop
2, John Tucker Must Die, Snake Eyes, Last Action Hero, and Soul Food. In
1999 he wrote, produced, and directed the highly acclaimed short film,
The Window. An official selection of over 25 film festivals, including
the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. It won a number of awards and honors
and has been sold for broadcast on both foreign and domestic television.
The following year, Jono was a participant in the Sundance Institute’s
Screenwriter’s Labs and Director’s Lab with his feature-length
screenplay.
In 2011, he began writing for the hit CBS television show Blue Bloods
and his latest project, Home, marks his feature film directorial debut. Jono grew up in Brooklyn before attending Stanford University where he
received a B.A. in Political Science. He currently lives in Park Slope,

Tavares-Rance 'seen seated on photo' is the Co -Founder for the
MVAAFF. Founded in 2001, the festival is one of the fastest growing film
festivals in the country. Her career in entertainment began in
1990 working in the AandR Department at SBK/EMI Records. She eventually
became the AandR Marketing Director and worked on award winning projects
such as Frank Sinatra’s (Duets I,II), Prince, Jon Secada, Gloria Estefan
and a plethora of others. In 1999, Stephanie became the Marketing
Director at Larry Flynt’s CODE Magazine, a short lived lifestyle
magazine for men of color. Her marketing impact was immediate as she
created strategic alliances with top-notch celebrities and luxury
brands. It was there that she realized that her calling was in event
planning. She eventually formed her own pr/event planning company
(Crescendo) and worked extensively with such clients as Martell Cognac,
Biz Markie, HBO, Showtime and Vangaurd Media. She then joined forces
with her husband Floyd Rance from 'Run and Shoot' productions and both
launched the Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival.
MELISSA HAIZLIP (Producer) is the 2013 Chaz and Roger Ebert fellow, awarded at the Independent Spirit Awards for her work-in-progress documentary, Mr. SOUL! The Movie. She has received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, National Black Programming Consortium, and ITVS. Melissa won the MVAAFF 2013 'Best Audience Award'. Wilkins is a Bronx-bred director and cinematographer. Shortly after
receiving his B.A. in English from Franklin and Marshall College,
Randy’s lifelong dream to play professional baseball was shattered after
a significant injury. Under these tragic circumstances, he discovered a
new passion, filmmaking. Befriending legendary filmmaker Spike Lee and
by the director’s urging, Randy enrolled in NYU’s esteemed Tisch School
of the Arts Graduate Film Program where he earned a chair’s fellowship
and a Master of Fine Arts in 2009. Randy’s most successful film to date,
“Osvaldo’s”, earned an exclusive license agreement with HBO for
broadcast as well as numerous awards and festival screenings including
Best Short Film at the Colorado Film Festival. This year Randy's new

Beach Film Festival, celebrated as one of the leading lifestyle film

Los Angeles-based African and African American film artists recognized
largely for their work produced between the 1960s and 1980s, when most of
them met as students in UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. The
term denotes an evolving group of many admirable facets. Among these were
the diversity of its creative expressions, and the importance of women’s
voices within the group. In their variety, however, all three films have
in common not only an African-American woman’s perspective, but also a

Schomer- Since making THE HIGHEST PASS, his company i2i Productions
has finished production on the feature documentary When The Dust Settles
and is set to complete post production in September 2012. This film
takes a deep look into the effects of nuclear testing on the children of
Kazakhstan. I2i Productions is also in development on a travel

Rees Davies- Director- A graduate of UCLA, Kate's film "CELL/PHONE"
screened at Cannes last year. STICKS AND STONES developed out of some
videos Kate saw on You tube. She is currently in post production on a
feature called "TREACHERY" with Blanc Biehn Productions. The film stars
Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc Biehn. Kate's next project "THE
VANISHED" written by Taylor Grant, will go into pre production later
this year. Kate recently recieved a Telly Award for her PSA on the
dangers of texting while driving.
